Klima
Prague, the country’s capital, otherwise known as the city of gold, presides proudly in this region. With its many monuments, buildings and interesting sights, such as Charles bridge and the Hradschin castle, Prague is one of the most -visited cities in Europe. The famous fortress of Karstejn, built by the emperor Charles IV, to protect the crown jewels, is situated 28 km south west of Prague. South of Prague, are the valleys of Moldau and Berounka, as well as the barrier lakes of Slapy and Orlik perfect for water sports. Nearby Melnick, the banks of the Elbe are lined by vineyards where the grapes will become ”Ludmilla drops”. The poetic Kokorin valley in the north and the romantic sites of Krvoklat west of Prague beckon the visitor to discover this region.
